At approximately 1:00 p.m., The Pittsburgh Bureau of Police Zone 5 officers responded to the 5000 block of Penn Avenue for a reported stabbing.
Preliminary information indicates that an adult male victim and an adult male actor engaged in a verbal altercation while on a bus. They exited the bus, at which time the altercation became physical. The actor stabbed the victim a single time in the abdomen. When officers arrived, bystanders were providing first aid to the victim.
Pittsburgh EMS transported the victim to an area hospital in critical condition. He was later listed as serious but stable.
Officers canvassing the area quickly identified an individual matching the description of the actor in the 5400 block of Baum Boulevard. The actor resisted arrest and became confrontational, at which time the officers deployed their taser. Medics evaluated and cleared him at the scene. The actor was transported to a local hospital for further evaluation and will subsequently be transported to the ACJ.
