Just before 2 p.m., Pittsburgh EMS, Fire, and Police were dispatched to Castlegate Ave. and Woodbourne Ave. for reports of an unconscious male in his 50s who was dangling from a scaffolding structure outside an apartment building.
Arriving units learned that the male stood up on the scaffolding while he was working, subsequently brushing the top of his head against some high-tension wires running directly behind him, causing him to pass out.
Crews from EMS Rescue 2 were able to secure the male using a rope system and bring him to safety to through an open apartment window. He was then evaluated by the EMS physician on scene before being transported to the hospital in serious but stable condition with second degree burns to the top of his head.
The patient was alert, conscious and talking during transport to the hospital.
