Just before 8:15 pm on October 25, Downtown Public Safety Center officers responded to 600 Commonwealth Place to take a robbery report.
A 20-year-old male told police he was walking through Point State Park with his girlfriend when he was approached by three or four young males wearing masks. One of the males produced a firearm and demanded the victim's hooded sweatshirt, which he handed over. The actor then struck the victim in the head with his firearm, making him fall to the ground where his shoes and necklace were also stolen. Medics evaluated his head laceration on scene, but he was not transported to the hospital.
Three juveniles were detained a short time later and transported to the downtown police station for questioning.
Javal West-Gray, 16, was arrested and charged as an adult (Act 33). He faces charges of robbery, aggravated assault, carrying a firearm without a license, possession of a firearm by a minor, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, and theft by unlawful taking.
West-Gray was transported to the Allegheny County Jail.
The other two juveniles were cited for summary harassment and released to the custody of their guardians.
The firearm was seized and sent to the crime lab for testing.
