Collision Investigators Respond for Scooter Crash

Just before 5:45 a.m., Police, EMS, and Fire responded to Bates St. and 2nd Ave. for reports of a motorized scooter that had struck a vehicle.

Medics transported the male who was riding the scooter to the hospital in critical condition.

The early investigation by the Collision Investigation Unit indicates that the scooter rider was traveling down Bates when he failed to stop for a red light, striking the side of an SUV driving on 2nd Ave. He was not wearing a helmet.

The vehicle driver stayed on scene to speak with police.
