UPDATE: The victim in this incident was pronounced deceased at the hospital on April 21, 2026. He will be identified by the Allegheny County Medical Examiner. Detectives are pursuing all available leads and this remains a very active and ongoing investigation. Further updates will be provided as they become available.

At approximately 12:45 a.m., Pittsburgh Police from Zone 2 were dispatched to Butler Street at Stanton Avenue in the city’s Central Lawrenceville neighborhood for reports of a shot fired with a male down in the road.
Officers arriving to the scene located an adult male victim in the street with a single gunshot wound to his abdomen. They rendered aid to the victim until medics arrived at the scene.
The male victim was transported in critical condition to an area hospital by Pittsburgh EMS and was immediately taken into surgery.
The Mobile Crime Unit was called to process the scene. Violent Crime Unit detectives are investigating.
At this time, no arrests have been made and actor information is limited.
The investigation is ongoing.
