Just before 9:00 a.m., Pittsburgh EMS, Pittsburgh Fire, and Pittsburgh Police from Zone 5 responded to the 500 block of North Highland Avenue (at Obama Academy) for reports of a woman who was injured after falling from construction scaffolding.
Construction workers were at the school working in the pool area. Scaffolding was erected in the empty pool area while that work was being conducted. Arriving responders located the adult female at the bottom of the empty pool; after she fell approximately thirty feet.
The victim suffered traumatic injuries to her head, consistent with a fall of that height.
She was transported by Pittsburgh EMS in grave condition. She unfortunately succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital shortly after arrival.
The victim’s identity will be released by the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Officer.
Violent Crime Unit detectives were called to the scene, per routine procedure.
