Shortly before 8:00 a.m., the Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire responded to a reported residential structure fire in the 800 Block of Climax Street.
911 callers reported seeing smoke coming from the second-story window. The one-alarm fire was under control by approximately 8:20 a.m. Firefighters rescued two dogs from the building, but unfortunately, they both passed away. Animal Care and Control officers are on scene providing assistance.
At this time, no civilian or firefighter injuries have been reported.
The Red Cross has been notified and will provide housing assistance to the affected residents.
The Fire Investigation Unit will determine the cause of the incident.
