Detectives Investigating Related Incidents in Garfield/Bloomfield

At approximately 9:15 p.m., Pittsburgh Police from Zone 5 were dispatched to the 5400 block of Columbo Street in the Garfield neighborhood for reports of an assault with subsequent shots fired.
Arriving officers were met by an adult male victim who stated he had been jumped by two male actors. The victim told officers he then discharged his firearm in the direction of the actors, causing them to flee the scene.
The male victim sustained a head injury and was transported to a local hospital by Pittsburgh EMS in stable condition.
A short time later, at approximately 9:45 p.m., an adult male was located in the roadway of the 300 block of Gross Street in the Bloomfield neighborhood with several gunshot wounds to his torso/arm. He was transported in critical condition to an area hospital.
The Mobile Crime Unit responded to process both scenes.
Violent Crime Unit detectives also responded. The incidents are being investigated as related. The investigation is ongoing.
