Detectives Investigate Fatal Overnight Shooting in East Hills

Just before 11:00 p.m., Pittsburgh Police from Zone 5 were dispatched to the 2300 block of East Hills Drive for three separate ShotSpotter alerts totaling thirty-two rounds. While officers were en route, they were notified that an adult male had been shot and was transporting by private vehicle to the hospital.

A short time later, officers located the vehicle with the adult male victim on Penn Avenue at Homewood Avenue. The victim had sustained a gunshot wound to the torso.

Pittsburgh EMS transported the victim in critical condition to an area hospital. Shortly after arrival, the victim was pronounced deceased.

The Mobile Crime Unit was called to the scene to process evidence, including recovered shell casings and reviewing all available camera footage.

Violent Crime Unit detectives are leading the investigation. There are no arrests at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
