At 10:25 p.m., Pittsburgh Police from Zone 1, Fire, and EMS were dispatched to the 1300 block of Chicago Street in the city’s Northview Heights neighborhood for a one-round ShotSpotter alert.
Officers arriving at the scene located an adult male in the rear of a residential structure with a single gunshot wound to his abdomen. Officers immediately began to render aid to the victim, including applying a chest seal to stem the bleeding.
The victim was transported by Pittsburgh EMS in critical, but stable, condition to a local hospital where he was immediately taken into surgery.
The Mobile Crime Unit responded to the scene and began processing all evidence, including reviewing all available video footage.
Violent Crime Unit detectives are investigating.
