At approximately 12:30 a.m., Pittsburgh Bureau of Police from Zone 3 attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed without headlights on at the intersection of E. Carson Street and Arlington Avenue in the South Shore neighborhood.

The vehicle continued eastbound at a high rate of speed. Upon determining that the driver was not stopping, officers deactivated their emergency lights and sirens.

The driver subsequently lost control of the vehicle while turning from Bradish Street onto S 12th Street in the South Side Flats, striking an unoccupied parked vehicle before colliding with the first floor of a residence. Two individuals inside the home at the time were not injured.

Zone 3 officers confirmed that the vehicle had been reported stolen. The driver, a juvenile female, was taken into custody. Two juvenile passengers were also in the vehicle at the time.

Pittsburgh Bureau of EMS responded to the scene and transported one of the juvenile passengers to a local hospital in stable condition.

The Department of Permits, Licenses, and Inspections (PLI) responded to the scene to assess the damage to the residence.

The investigation is ongoing.
