Police, Fire, & EMS Respond to Vehicle into Crowd in East Liberty

Just before 6:30 p.m., Pittsburgh Police, Fire, and EMS responded to Broad Street at Centre Avenue in the East Liberty neighborhood for reports of a vehicle into a crowd of people.

Responders on scene were informed by witnesses that the vehicle was slow-moving and did not have a driver present when it drifted into the crowd who had gathered for a neighborhood/community festival.

The adult male owner of the vehicle stayed at the scene, was highly cooperative, and stated to police that he believed he placed his vehicle into park before exiting.

In total, six victims were reported—five adult females and one adult male. Pittsburgh EMS transported five of the victims to area hospitals—three is serious, but stable condition and two in stable condition. The remaining victim was evaluated at the scene and refused EMS transport.

At this time, the incident is believed to be purely accidental in nature.
