Just before 5:00pm, Pittsburgh Police from Zone 5 were dispatched to the 900 block of Brushton Avenue in Homewood North for reports of a stabbing.

Officers arriving on the scene—in the 7600 block of Baxter Street—located an adult male victim with a stab wound to the neck. They immediately began to render aid to the victim until medics arrived. The victim was then transported to a local hospital by Pittsburgh EMS in critical condition.

He has since been upgraded to stable condition.

The victim told officers that he was standing on the street when a male actor approached him and demanded money. After handing over an undisclosed amount of cash, the actor then stabbed the victim and fled the scene on foot.

The Mobile Crime Unit responded to process evidence at the scene and Zone 5 plainclothes detectives are investigating.

The investigation is ongoing.
