At approximately 5:15 p.m., Pittsburgh Police from Zone 5 were dispatched to the 1700 block of Crestline Street in East Hills for two separate ShotSpotter alerts totaling eight rounds.
The early investigation indicates that two vehicles were travelling south on Crestline Street and exchanging gunfire with each other as they travelled.
One of the vehicles, a white sedan, collided with a utility pole in the 1500 block of Coal Street, just over the border into Wilkinsburg, and caught on fire. Pittsburgh Fire extinguished the flames. The adult male driver sustained a gunshot wound to his hip. He was transported by Pittsburgh EMS in stable condition. An adult female passenger was also transported by Pittsburgh EMS for medical evaluation.
The other vehicle fled the scene and was last seen making a right turn onto Grand Avenue.
No other damage was immediately reported from nearby residences or to other vehicles.
The Mobile Crime Unit was called to the scene to process all evidence.
Detectives are investigating. The investigation is ongoing.
