At approximately 10:30 a.m., Pittsburgh Fire was dispatched for a two-alarm fire in the 2600 block of South 18th Street in the South Side Flats for an unoccupied multi-unit residential fire.
Firefighters arrived to the scene with smoke and fire coming from the roof of the structure.
A third alarm was called at approximately 11:30 a.m.
One firefighter sustained an ankle injury. They were transported by Pittsburgh EMS to an area hospital in stable condition.
No other injuries were reported.
Fire Investigation Unit detectives arrived to the scene and determined the fire began in a lower-level unit. The exact cause remains under investigation.
