Just after 5:00 a.m., Pittsburgh Fire, Police, and EMS were dispatched to the 3700 block of Parviss Street in the city’s Brighton Heights neighborhood for reports of a residential structure fire.

Firefighters arrived to heavy smoke and flames coming from the top floors and roof of the home.

Responders were informed that the occupant, an adult male, was possibly inside as his vehicle was parked outside the residence.

As firefighters gained entry to the structure, they began to methodically clear each floor. Just after 6:00 a.m., they located the 64-year-old male deceased in a bedroom on the second floor.

While the fire was deemed under control just after 7:00 a.m., firefighters continued to battle a number of hotspots in the eaves and third floor/attic.

Fire Investigation Unit detectives arrived to the scene and determined that the fire originated in the second-floor bedroom and was accidental in nature.

The victim’s identity will be released by the Office of the Allegheny County Medical Examiner.
