Zone 5 Officers and Pittsburgh Fire Respond to School Bus Fire

Summary:

Just after 3:00 p.m., a school bus driver called 9-1-1 reporting that smoke had begun pouring into the vehicle. When Zone 5 officers and the Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire arrived, the bus was fully engulfed in flames. The driver was able to exit before the fire spread.

No students were on board at the time and no injuries were reported.

The Fire Investigation Unit was called to the scene and determined the cause of the fire to be mechanical.

Sunrise Avenue was closed in both directions between Fairlawn street and Remington Drive during the investigation.
