Violence Prevention Unit Detectives Arrest Three, Recover Firearms Dur

Summary:

On Monday, September 2, 2024, Violence Prevention Unit detectives were patrolling in Homewood following a recent non-fatal shooting and numerous calls for shots fired in the area.

Just after 10 p.m., detectives pulled over a vehicle for multiple traffic violations on Bennett St. at Brushton Ave. and officers recovered three firearms--two of which were reported stolen. The third firearm was a polymer ghost gun without a serial number. 

One adult male and two juvenile males were arrested. The driver of the vehicle was issued a non-traffic citation for marijuana possession.

The two juveniles were transported to police headquarters and later to the Municipal Court Building where they were fingerprinted, photographed, and released to their respective guardians.  

Tyshawn Morton, 18, of Pittsburgh was charged with Carrying a Firearm Without a License, Receiving Stolen Property, Resisting Arrest, Prohibited Acts, and Carrying a Loaded Weapon. 

He was transported to the Allegheny County Jail.
