UPDATE: The bridge has reopened to traffic.
Original post: At 2:35 a.m. Pittsburgh Police, Fire. and EMS responded to the West End Bridge for reports of a collision involving three vehicles.
Upon arrival, a female from one vehicle was pronounced deceased by medics at the scene. The three other occupants, all male, were transported to the hospital by Medic Units 3,8, and 14 with various injuries.
There were no other patient transports from the other two vehicles.
The initial investigation shows that a red SUV was traveling northbound from Route 51 when it hit a vehicle traveling west on W. Carson Street, before hitting another vehicle traveling southbound on the West End Bridge.
The bridge remains closed while the Collision Investigation Unit completes its work.
