Just before 6:00 a.m., Pittsburgh Police, Fire, and EMS were dispatched to the 1000 block of Brownsville Road in Carrick for reports of a vehicle versus pedestrian collision.

Arriving responders located an adult female victim in the roadway with significant head injuries. She was transported in critical condition to an area hospital.

A 73-year-old male driver was heading northbound/inbound on Brownsville Road when the collision took place.

The early investigation indicates the victim was walking in the street. And the driver reports he did not initially see the victim—who was wearing black leggings and a black hoodie.

After striking the victim, the driver stopped and called 911. He stayed on the scene and was cooperative with officers.

The Collision Investigation Unit was called to process the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
