UPDATE: On October 8, 2024 at 3:48 p.m., the adult male victim in this incident succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital. No arrests have been made at this time, but this remains a very active and ongoing investigation.

Original post:

Just before 4:30 a.m., Pittsburgh Police from Zone 2 were dispatched to Butler Street at 42nd Street in Central Lawrenceville for multiple reports of a shooting.

Arriving officers located an adult male victim inside the front door of an establishment in the 4100 block of Butler Street with a gunshot wound to his head.

He was transported to a local hospital in critical condition by Pittsburgh EMS.

Witnesses describe a possible altercation before the victim was shot.

The Mobile Crime Unit was called to the scene to process all evidence.

Violent Crime Unit detectives are investigating. The investigation is ongoing.
