Police Seek the Public's Assistance to Identify Assault Suspect

Summary:

Pittsburgh Police are attempting to identify the male in this photo in connection with a reported assault that occurred just after 2 p.m. on July 1, 2024 at a bus stop near the intersection of Smithfield Street and Sixth Avenue.

A male victim reported that a highly intoxicated and disorderly male walked up and began harassing people at the bus stop. The male then approached the victim and kicked him without provocation.

The victim asked him to leave him alone and stood up to move away when the suspect hit him twice in the head with a glass alcohol bottle and threatened him with a pocket knife. The victim was taken to the hospital in stable condition with two lacerations to his head.

The male fled down Smithfield St. toward Fifth Ave. He is described as 35-45 years old, 6'0", 185 lbs with short hair, eyeglasses, and a beard.
