Incident Type: Arrest
Location: Zone 4
Summary:

On Friday, September 13, 2024 Zone 4 officers were called to the 5600 block of Solway Street for reports of an attempted trespass of a locked child care center. While en route, the caller informed dispatch that they had watched as the male suspect then walked across an alleyway and entered an apartment building.

Arriving units made contact with a male through the door of a second-floor apartment. The male told them he was staying there with a friend. He then opened the door and police informed him he was being detained for the trespass attempt and suspected possible burglary of the apartment. During a protective sweep of the premises, police observed multiple firearms, narcotics, and paraphernalia in plain view and applied for a search warrant. The subsequent search resulted in the recovery of nine firearms, including four long rifles and five handguns, ammunition, marijuana, mushrooms, packaging materials, suspected fentanyl and more than $2200 in cash.

Travis Hickly, 34, was arrested on scene on several outstanding warrants and faces multiple felony firearms and narcotics-related charges, as well as criminal attempt trespass, and providing false identification to law enforcement. He was transported to the Allegheny County Jail. In addition, a warrant has been issued for Michael Olds, 24, for conspiracy, persons not to possess, and prohibited acts.

There is no evidence of any direct or indirect threat made to the childcare center and the initial trespass incident is considered to be an isolated event.

The investigation is ongoing.
