Incident Type: 1-Alarm fire
Location: Zone 1
Summary:

Just after 3:20 p.m., Pittsburgh Fire, EMS, and Police were dispatched to the 900 block of Luella Street for a reported residential structure fire.

Responding firefighters from 38 Engine located two female residents and rescued them from the burning house, which was also energized by electricity. Upon exiting the house, one of the women received an electric shock from a surrounding fence. Medics evaluated her on scene and she refused transport to the hospital.

Firefighters were unable to immediately attack the fire with water due to the energized structure.

Pittsburgh Fire contacted Duquesne Light asking them to remotely cut power, as it was clear the general area around the fire structure was energized.

Duquesne Light is in the process of isolating the outage. More than 500 customers are affected.

No one else was injured and first responders remain on scene.

The Fire Investigation Unit will work closely with Duquesne Light and regulators with respect to this incident.
