Police, Fire, EMS Dispatched to Multi-Vehicle Crash in Homewood West

Just before 2 p.m., Police, Fire, and EMS responded to the 900 block of Washington Blvd. for reports of a collision involving four vehicles in the parking lot of a car wash.
Responding units located a male victim pinned under his vehicle, which he appeared to have been vacuuming when he was struck.
EMS rescue units extricated the male and transported him to the hospital in critical condition with injuries to his leg and torso. He was conscious and alert at the time of transport.
No one else was injured.
A dog that was inside one of the vehicles that was struck ran away from the collision site and was later hit by a vehicle on Washington Blvd. near Shetland.
A Pittsburgh Police officer immediately took the dog to an emergency veterinary clinic, where it unfortunately died.

 

The Collision Investigation Unit conducted interviews and gathered any available video footage at the original crash scene.
The exact cause remains under investigation.
