Police Boost Security for South Side Entertainment District in 2023

Summary:
On July 20, 2023, Pittsburgh Police Chief Larry Scirotto launched a new initiative to increase security in the South Side entertainment district along E. Carson Street with dedicated patrols, particularly on the busiest nights of the week from Thursday through Sunday.
Since that time, the South Side Entertainment Patrol has made dozens of arrests, recovered multiple firearms, and issued hundreds of traffic and non-traffic citations.
Here are the totals from the nearly six months of that focused enforcement effort:

Included in those numbers are the results of the Entertainment Patrol's efforts from December 28, through to and including New Year's Eve, which resulted in:

The arrest was for Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Discharging a Firearm Within City Limits, and Public Intoxication.
