Pittsburgh Police Probe Pedestrian Collision With Public Works Vehicle

Summary:

Just after 9:30 a.m., Pittsburgh Police, EMS, and Fire were dispatched to the 400 block of Brownsville Road for a reported pedestrian collision involving a City of Pittsburgh garbage truck.

Medics located a female in her late 50s or early 60s who was using a motorized wheelchair. She suffered a serious compound leg fracture and was transported to the hospital by Medic 3. The patient was alert and talking during transport.

The Pittsburgh Police Collision Investigation Unit has been called in to investigate.

Per protocol, the involved City employee will undergo drug and alcohol testing. They will be placed on desk duty pending the outcome of the investigation.
