Summary:

Pittsburgh Police, Fire, and EMS responded at approximately 7:15 p.m. for a vehicle versus pedestrian collision at the intersection of Sixth Avenue and Centre Avenue in Downtown.

A 42-year-old male driver was travelling northbound (away from Fifth Avenue) when he struck two pedestrians who were crossing the street in the crosswalk.

The pedestrians—an adult male and an adult female—were both conscious, alert, and speaking with officers and medics. Both were transported by Pittsburgh EMS in stable condition to an area hospital for evaluation.

The driver, believed to have suffered a medical emergency, was transported in critical condition.

The vehicle, a pickup truck, additionally struck the BNY Mellon parking garage at the corner of the intersection. Any damage is still being assessed.

Collision Investigation Unit detectives are investigating.
