Police, Fire, EMS Respond to Fatal Vehicle Crash on East Carson St.

Summary:
Just before 1:00 p.m., Pittsburgh Police, Fire, and EMS were dispatched to the 3900 block of East Carson Street in the South Side Flats for reports of a multi-vehicle collision.
The initial investigation shows a pick-up truck was travelling eastbound (outbound) when it crossed the center line and collided head-on with an SUV heading westbound (inbound).
The truck rolled over in the street and the SUV went through a guardrail and down an embankment towards the nearby railroad tracks. The driver of the SUV was entrapped and required extrication by rescue crews.
The adult female driver of the truck was transported in serious condition.
The adult female driver of the SUV was transported in grave condition. She was pronounced deceased at the hospital a short time later.
A third vehicle sustained minor damage with the driver reporting no injuries.
Investigators fully reopened East Carson Street to traffic just before 4:00 p.m.
Collision Investigation Unit detectives are investigating. The investigation, including the exact cause, is ongoing.
