Pittsburgh Fire, Police, and EMS Respond to Apartment Building Fire

Summary:

Pittsburgh Fire, Police, and EMS were dispatched to a three-alarm fire in an apartment building on the 800 block of E Warrington Avenue at approximately 11:30 a.m.

The incident originated on the fifth floor of the structure. Fire damage was isolated to a single unit, but heavy smoke conditions affected several floors of the building. It took firefighters approximately 30 minutes to extinguish the fire.

EMS transported one adult male in critical condition to an area hospital with severe smoke inhalation. Medics evaluated and treated up to a dozen people on scene for mild smoke inhalation.

The Red Cross is coordinating relief services for affected residents.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
