At approximately 2:30 p.m., the Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire responded to reports of smoke in a hotel building in the 600 block of William Penn Place.
The fire alarm was activated; some hotel guests evacuated, while others sheltered in place. Initial reports indicated occupants were trapped in an elevator, but they self-evacuated before firefighters ascended to the sixth floor.
There were no reported injuries.
Police and EMS also responded to the scene.
The Fire Investigation Unit is investigating.
