Registration Open for the City's 24th Annual Gingerbread House Competition Through November 8
Pittsburgh, PA – The CitiParks Office of Special Events is pleased to announce that registration for the 24th Annual City of Pittsburgh Gingerbread House Display & Competition now open. Registration is available online at www.pittsburghpa.gov/gingerbread and will remain open through 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, November 8, 2026.
Individuals, schools, communities, non-profits and professionals across the region are invited to express their creativity through the display, a treasured tradition that has become a feature of celebrating the holiday season in Pittsburgh.
In continued partnership, Clearview Federal Credit Union will once again present the City of Pittsburgh’s official holiday events, including the Gingerbread Display & Competition as well as the official Tree Lighting Ceremony to illuminate the only live holiday tree in Downtown.
“Traditions like the Gingerbread House Display give people a reason to create, connect and celebrate what makes our region feel like home,” said Erin Forrester, Assistant Vice President, Public Relations & Community Impact at Clearview Federal Credit Union. “Clearview is proud to continue our partnership with the City of Pittsburgh and support a tradition that brings together families, schools and communities from across the region. We’re excited to see the creativity students bring to this year’s display and to recognize their work through the Clearview Classroom Choice. It’s a meaningful way to celebrate the season and the sense of community that makes Pittsburgh so special.”
This year’s display at the City County Building will open with a ceremony on Friday, November 20, with the entries remaining on display for Light Up Night on November 21 and through early January. In addition to naming nearly 20 category award winners, overall awards are given out to the “Clearview Classroom Choice,” selected by Clearview representatives out of all entries from participating area schools, the “Curator’s Choice,” selected by distinguished curatorial staff at Carnegie Museum of Art, as well as the “People’s Choice” voting winner.
This annual competition began with Downtown Pittsburgh hotels in 2002 to benefit the Children’s Hospital Free Care Fund, and since has attracted thousands of entries and visitors to PPG Place before moving to the City-County Building in 2019.
The Gingerbread House Display and Competition is also made possible with media support from KDKA Radio, 100.7 Star, Y108, WAMO 107.3, and 93.7 The Fan.
