Pittsburgh, PA – Starting the morning of Monday, January 5th, three of the four lanes on Liberty Avenue in the Strip District will be closed around the clock between 2525 Liberty Avenue and 2625 Liberty Avenue. The three lanes closed will include both Eastbound (outbound) lanes as well as one of the two Westbound (inbound) lanes.
Liberty Avenue Eastbound will detour from Liberty Avenue to 25th Street to Smallman Street all the way to 30th St and back to Liberty at 30th Street (pictured below).
This Liberty Avenue closure will allow Pittsburgh Water to complete an excavation to replace a 36-inch diameter valve as well as two additional excavations to install temporary waterstops to ensure continued service during the valve replacement. The anticipated work will take approximately 7 working days depending on field and/or weather conditions
Work will take place 24 hours per day on weekdays and weekends starting midnight on Monday morning January 5th and will continue until the work has been completed. Once work has been completed, the site will be temporarily restored. The site will be fully restored on a later date in Spring, access in both directions will be permitted during that time.
