Mayor to Attend and Speak at Two Major Community Events Friday, April 25
Pittsburgh, PA – Members of the media are invited to join Mayor Ed Gainey at two impactful events this Friday, April 25, 2025, where he will deliver remarks and engage directly with the community. From ensuring families have access to essentials, to celebrating the city's young changemakers, Friday is a day of action and inspiration in Pittsburgh.
EVENT #1: Feed the Children – Resource Rally
WHEN: Friday, April 25, 2025
TIME: 8:15 AM – 9:15 AM; Mayor Speaks: 9:00 AM
WHERE: Homewood, 8020 Frankstown Avenue
WHAT: This drive-through food and essentials distribution event—hosted in partnership with The Salvation Army, Feed the Children, and Concord—aims to uplift Pittsburgh families facing food insecurity. Approximately 400 families will receive a 25-lb box of food and a 15-lb box of hygiene products.
EVENT #2: Third Annual Youth Thriving Summit

WHAT: The Youth Thriving Summit celebrates the passion, creativity, and leadership of Pittsburgh’s young people. The Mayor will speak at 11:15 AM to recognize youth voices, including those who played a critical role in shaping the Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council. These emerging leaders are transforming their schools, neighborhoods, and our city—and this event is a tribute to their efforts.
