KRYSIA KUBIAK TO DEPART AS CITY SOLICITOR AFTER SERVICE MARKED BY INTEGRITY AND COMMITMENT

Pittsburgh, PA – The City of Pittsburgh announces the departure of City Solicitor Krysia Kubiak, who is stepping down from her position effective Friday, October 24. Ms. Kubiak has served the City with distinction, leaving behind a legacy of thoughtful legal counsel, integrity, and dedication to public service. After transitioning from the corporate world to join city government—driven by her belief in Mayor Ed Gainey’s vision for Pittsburgh—Ms. Kubiak will now return to the private sector.

During her tenure, Kubiak provided invaluable legal guidance on a wide range of municipal matters, from complex litigation and contract negotiations to city ordinances and public policy. During her time as Solicitor, Kubiak, along with her talented team of attorneys, saved the City millions in litigation, sped up the process for transferring City properties to residents and implemented a new case management system.

“Krysia has been an indispensable part of our leadership team,” said Mayor Ed Gainey. “Her legal expertise and steady judgement have served this city well through many important decisions. We are deeply grateful for her service and wish her the very best in her next chapter.”

Krysia Kubiak will transition back to Duquesne Light as the Managing Director of External Affairs and Regulatory Law.

“It has been an incredible honor to serve the City of Pittsburgh and work alongside Mayor Ed Gainey and such a dedicated administration,” said Krysia Kubiak. “I’m deeply grateful for the trust and collaboration we’ve shared over the years. The Mayor’s leadership and the team’s unwavering commitment to public service have been a daily inspiration. I leave confident in the important work being done and in the bright future ahead for our city.”

Deputy Solicitor Jesse Exilus will serve as acting City Solicitor to ensure continuity in the City’s legal operations.
