FORBES AVENUE & BRADDOCK AVENUE INTERSECTION TRAFFIC PATTERN CHANGES ON THURSDAY 4/17/2025

The new traffic pattern will begin Thursday morning as part of an in-progress project

Pittsburgh, PA – Beginning Thursday Morning, residents and commuters of the City of Pittsburgh will see a new traffic pattern on Forbes Avenue at the Forbes Avenue & Braddock Avenue intersection. After the shift, the two lanes of Forbes Avenue, which carry traffic into the city, will be reduced to one lane as the three outbound lanes shift to the north

The lane realignment at the Forbes Avenue & Braddock Avenue intersection comes as a component of a larger project which aims to improve safety and road user conditions at this intersection through a series of revisions. Those revisions include:

  • Upgraded traffic signals and equipment

  • The elimination of the right turn lane on Braddock Avenue (southbound)

  • The addition of a bus boarding lane on Forbes Avenue (outbound)

  • The extension of bicycle facilities on the southbound and eastbound approaches and the addition of a dedicated bicycle signal for the eastbound approach

Roadway users traveling inbound on Forbes Avenue, whether turning left off of Braddock Avenue (northbound) or right off of Braddock Avenue (southbound), likely will not see any delay in their commute as a part of this process.
