City of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County Announce Switch Together Solar Program Mailers Coming to Residents
Pittsburgh, PA – Residents in Pittsburgh and across Allegheny County may receive a mailer beginning today about Switch Together, a legitimate group buying program for solar installations endorsed by the City of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County.
The 2026 program, which was announced last month in partnership with nonprofit Solar United Neighbors invites homeowners to explore options for affordable rooftop solar installations, battery storage and electric vehicle chargers while potentially saving money through group purchasing. The mailers provide additional information about the program, solar education resources and events and how residents can learn more.
“At a time when energy costs are putting more pressure on families across the city, this program makes solar an accessible option at a discounted price to help sustainably lower utility bills,” said Mayor Corey O’Connor. “I’d like to thank Solar United Neighbors and Allegheny County for their partnership in bringing this opportunity to our communities.”
Last year, more than 400 local residents participated in Switch Together, with participants seeing an average discount of 16% on their solar proposals.
“Transitioning to cleaner energy is an important part of building a more resilient and sustainable Allegheny County,” said Allegheny County Executive Sara Innamorato. “Switch Together gives residents an opportunity to learn more about solar and explore whether it makes sense for their homes, while using the collective buying power of our communities to make these options more accessible. We’re grateful to Solar United Neighbors and our partners at the City of Pittsburgh for bringing this program back to our region.”
Additional information about the Switch Together program can be found here on the program’s website.
