City of Pittsburgh Pools Open, Summer Guide Released

Pittsburgh, PA – Summer is in full swing in the City of Pittsburgh as today marks the opening day for pools and the Department of Parks and Recreation (CitiParks) has released their annual Summer Guide to city programming.  

City Pools Open Today 

The City of Pittsburgh opened 16 outdoor pools today around the city: Ammon, Banksvile, Bloomfield, Highland, Jack Stack, Magee, McBride, Moore, Ormsby, Phillips, Ream, Riverview, Schenley, Sue Murray, West Penn and Westwood. The Homewood pool will be opening in the next couple of weeks following its update and renovation.   

Pool hours and schedules will be posted on the city pools’ website. All city pools are free for young people aged 15 and under who live in the City of Pittsburgh. Those over 15 can pay per visit or purchase a season pass tag at any open pool location. 

The indoor pool at the Oliver Bath House will maintain limited hours starting today from 7:30-10:30 AM Mondays and Wednesdays during the summer season. 

The City of Pittsburgh Aquatics team is bringing back free learn to swim camps at city pools. The camps will run for two weeks starting later this month and city residents can find more information and register at each pool. 

2026 CitiParks Summer Guide 

Pools are not the only summer activity from CitiParks, who will be hosting several events, programs and activities throughout the summer that are included in their Summer Guide. The Summer Guide outlines new opportunities for free programs and includes schedules and information about:

The online version of the Summer Guide is available here and printed versions will be available at City facilities like recreation and senior centers. The Summer Guide will also be available in Spanish and Chinese.  

CitiCamp 

Today, CitiParks kicked off their free CitiCamp with 238 campers between the ages of 4-12 at six recreation centers. CitiCamp is a STEAM-based day camp where youth engage with art, science, history, math, field trips and other activities. The free camp runs daily from June 15 through July 31.  

Community Pop-Up Concerts 

Music lovers have another reason to celebrate this summer as CitiParks and the Pittsburgh Brewing Company are rolling out the Community Pop-Up Concert Series. The series features three Friday nights in Mellon Park followed by a special Sunday finale at Allegheny Commons Park West in September.  

The series schedule is: 

  • Friday, July 10 at 7:00 PM: Come Together Beatles’ tribute at Mellon Park 
  • Friday, July 17 at 7:00 PM: Norman Nardini Band at Mellon Park 
  • Friday, July 24 at 7:00 PM: The Flow Band at Mellon Park 
  • Sunday, September 13 at 7:00 PM: Billy Price & Joe Grushecky Perform “Forever Young: A Tribute to Bob Dylan” at Allegheny Commons Park West 

Performances begin at 7:00 PM and each event will have food trucks on site. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets.  

Additional concerts and activities throughout the summer are included in the Summer Guide.
