City of Pittsburgh Announces Trick-or-Treat Hours and City Halloween Events
City to host Trick-or-Treat, Track & Treat, City Hall Haunted Crawl and First-Ever Halloween House Decorating Contest
Pittsburgh, PA – With the spooky season upon the City of Pittsburgh, today Mayor Corey O’Connor announced Halloween events happening throughout the city, including the City of Pittsburgh’s official trick-or-treat on October 31, 2026 from 5:30 – 7:30 PM.
“Pittsburghers love to celebrate Halloween and all of the fun annual community traditions for our kids, families and neighbors,” said Mayor O’Connor. “I want to thank the community organizations who host events and our whole City and CitiParks team for being creative and coming up with fun new ways to bring our neighborhoods together. Let’s all do our part to make sure our kids have a safe and fun Halloween.”
The City recommends the following safety tips for trick-or-treaters:
- Include reflective tape, stickers or clip-on lights on costumes and bags for visibility
- Make sure children can properly see through masks or make-up for safe street crossing
- Check costumes to make sure there aren’t obstructions that could cause trips or falls
- Keep an eye on the weather forecast and dress appropriately for a more comfortable evening
- Walk on sidewalks rather than in the streets, watch for vehicles and parents should assist children when crossing streets
- Carry lights or flashlights for additional visibility
Anyone driving during the trick-or-treat hours must use additional caution, care and vigilance. Slow down and increase your awareness of trick-or-treaters.
CitiParks Annual Track & Treat Event
The City’s Department of Parks & Recreation (CitiParks) will host their annual Track & Treat event on Saturday, October 24, 2026 from 12:00 – 4:00 PM at the Bud Harris Cycling Track at 1401 Washington Boulevard in Highland Park.
The free annual family healthy lifestyle event brings together families from all over Pittsburgh to enjoy bike decorating, bike safety instructions, games, refreshments, food trucks and more. Attendees can bring their own bike or borrow one.
A costume contest is held at 2:00 PM with winners across four age groups for funniest, scariest and most original costume.
Third Annual City Hall Haunted Crawl
The City will be opening the doors of the City-County Building at 414 Grant Street for the Third Annual City Hall Haunted Crawl on Wednesday, October 28, 2026 from 5:30 – 7:30 PM. The event is free and open to the public to join for Halloween fun!
Costumes are encouraged as kids, families, goblins and ghouls can make their way through the Grand Lobby of the City-County Building, where City departments will be hosting Halloween-themed stations, welcoming attendees and handing out treats. From the people who keep our neighborhoods safe to those who maintain our parks, streets and public spaces, the Haunted Crawl is a fun opportunity to meet the people who serve our city every day.
CitiParks Citywide Halloween House Decorating Contest
CitiParks is excited to announce Pittsburgh’s first citywide Halloween house decorating contest. Pittsburghers are invited to deck their homes with their most creative and spookiest decorations to claim the top awards.
Participants can decorate their individual home or property, or partner with their neighbors and/or whole blocks, in one of the following categories:
- Spookiest Individual Home
Properties must be within the City of Pittsburgh and all who participate do so at their own expense.
“CitiParks is committed to beloved fall events like Track & Treat and expanding our programming across our parks, recreation centers, and senior centers,” said Director of Parks and Recreation Eric Sloan. “This new free event is a great will to build neighborhood pride across the city.”
