Pittsburgh, PA – CitiParks and the Schenley Park Skating Rink are excited to host the 38th Annual Mascot Celebration on Saturday, January 24, 2026 from 1:30 to 3 PM, but are moving the event indoors due to the extremely low temperatures that are expected.
“This year, we’re making the Mascot Skate the Mascot Madness celebration,” said Mayor Corey O’Connor. “With the extremely cold weather expected Saturday, we want our families to have fun, but we also want everyone to be safe. Even though you won’t be able to hit the ice, we invite families to bundle up, come out and make unforgettable memories with the mascots.”
This year will not have ice skating, but attendees will get the chance to meet and hang out with over 30 Pittsburgh-area mascots—from animals to stars and everything in between.
“Mascot Madness has been a beloved winter tradition in Pittsburgh for nearly four decades, and we’re thrilled to continue that tradition this year in a way that keeps everyone safe and comfortable,” said Eric Sloan, Acting Director of CitiParks. “Even without skating, there will be no shortage of smiles, photos, and high-fives—proof that Pittsburgh winter weather can’t stop the fun.”
Tickets are still available for the event at $6.00 for adults, $5.00 for seniors and veterans and $3.00 for kids. They can only be purchased online only by selecting the Saturday, January 24th 1:30 PM session time at: https://www.pittsburghpa.gov/Recreation-Events/Park-Facilities/Schenley-Skating-Rink/Mascot-Skate
