CitiParks Extending 4 Cooling Centers from Friday, July 3 – Sunday, July 5, 2026

Pittsburgh, PA – As temperatures remain elevated and heat index values are expected to exceed 90 degrees throughout the holiday weekend, CitiParks will extend operations at four Healthy Active Living (HAL) Senior Centers serving as Cooling Centers through Sunday, July 5, 2026.

The Cooling Centers were initially activated from Monday, June 29 through Thursday, July 2. Due to the ongoing heat wave and continued forecast for dangerous temperatures, CitiParks has extended their operation to help residents stay safe during the extreme heat.

Three of the designated Cooling Centers will be open Friday through Sunday from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM, providing air-conditioned spaces where residents can cool down and seek relief from the heat. The Sheraden HAL Center will be open Friday and Sunday during the same hours, but will be closed on Saturday, July 4th.
