CITY OF PITTSBURGH’S DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS MAKING PREPARATIONS AHEAD OF MULTIPLE WINTER WEATHER EVENTS
Pittsburgh, PA – In an abundance of caution due to the incoming inclement weather, the City of Pittsburgh’s Department of Public Works will be deploying 60 trucks overnight, tonight, January 2. The bulk of snow is predicted to fall around am rush hour tomorrow, Friday, January 3. Residents are advised to use caution, and plan for a slightly longer commute in the morning.
The Department of Public Works is currently preparing for a more significant snow event predicted for Sunday, January 5 and again Monday, January 6. The city will release more information as the storm system further develops.
To aid in the treatment of roads, residents are asked to avoid parking vehicles on the streets, if at all possible.
“Our Public Works crews are ready and working around the clock to keep our roads safe for everyone,” said Mayor Ed Gainey. “We ask residents to do their part by giving our crews the space they need to work and avoiding parking on the streets when possible. Let’s all stay safe, plan ahead, and look out for one another during this winter weather.”
