Special Victims Unit Update to North Side Sex Assault Investigation
Special Victims Unit Update to North Side Sex Assault Investigation
Published on August 22, 2025
Pittsburgh Police recently alerted the community about reported sexual assault cases that they believe to be connected.
Detectives continue to actively investigate these cases and, thanks to information provided by the victims and the public, detectives have identified a person of interest.
The reported incidents have occurred in the E. Ohio Street corridor in the early morning hours - roughly between 1-3 a.m.- over the past two-and-a-half months.
Detectives are working closely with the victims. During their investigation, they have also been made aware that there may be other victims in the same area who have not reported these assaults. Police strongly encourage those who may have encountered this male to contact Pittsburgh Police at (412) 323- 7800 or by calling 911.
Original post:
UPDATE: This is an extremely active and ongoing investigation.
While Pittsburgh Police understands the level of concern and interest in this case, detectives are unable to provide more specific details to the public at this time, as doing so would
jeopardize the investigation.
We would like to assure the community that multiple resources have been dedicated to the case and police thank the public for providing valuable information that has advanced the investigation.
What police are asking for now is for any other victims to come forward by contacting Pittsburgh Police Headquarters at (412) 323-7800 or dialing 911.
Original post:
The Pittsburgh Bureau of Police is alerting the community about a series of reported sexual assaults that may be connected.
The incidents have occurred on the North Side of the city during early morning hours. The suspect has been described as a smaller white male driving a white pickup truck. Investigators believe he may be a potential repeat offender.
Police urge residents to take extra precautions such as traveling in groups when possible, remaining alert in public spaces, and reporting any suspicious activity immediately by calling 911.
Anyone with information regarding an incident of this nature is asked to contact the Special Victims Unit at 412-323-7800.
Police are increasing patrols in the affected areas and dedicating additional resources to the investigation. Our priority is the safety of the community and we are working tirelessly to identify and apprehend the suspect.
