At approximately 12:00 p.m., the Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire responded to a fire alarm call at a high-rise building in the 2400 block of Laketon Road in Wilkinsburg.
Shortly after arriving on the scene, the bureau’s high-rise plan was called for, which initiated a three-alarm call.
The fire was contained to a single apartment unit on the building’s fourth floor. Unfortunately, there was one deceased person located within this unit.
The fire was declared under control at approximately 1:00 p.m. Pittsburgh Fire stayed at the scene to clear smoke and ensure no hot spots remained.
Eastern Area EMS responded to the scene, as well as the Allegheny County Fire Marshal, who is leading the investigation into the exact cause along with Wilkinsburg Police and the Allegheny County Police Department.
