UPDATE: Joseph V. Brown, 20, of Clairton was arrested in connection with this incident and faces a number of charges, including aggravated assault, carrying a firearm without a license, and recklessly endangering another person. He remains in the Allegheny County Jail.

At approximately 2:45 a.m., Pittsburgh Police officers assigned to the South Side Entertainment District heard several gunshots fired from the intersection of East Carson Street and South 18th Street.
An adult male victim had been driving a vehicle through the intersection when the shots were fired from an actor standing on the street.
Officers arrived to the scene within moments and immediately rendered aid to the victim who had sustained a gunshot wound to his buttock.
At the same time, officers detained an adult male at the scene. He was taken to Police Headquarters for questioning.
The victim was conscious, alert, and able to speak with officers and medics. He was transported to an area hospital by Pittsburgh EMS in stable condition.
Violent Crime Unit detectives also responded to the scene and are continuing the investigation.
East Carson Street was closed between South 17th Street and South 19th Street while the Mobile Crime Unit processed the scene. It has since reopened.
