Date: June 9, 2024 Incident Type: Fatal shooting Location: Zone 2 Summary:
Just before 11:15 a.m., Zone 2 officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert for three shots fired in the area of Fifth and Vine.
Responding officers located an unknown age male with a gunshot wound to the chest. Medics transported him to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased a short time later.
A male stayed at the scene and VCU detectives are questioning him at police headquarters.
At this time, police believe there are no outstanding suspects or ongoing danger to the public.
The investigation is ongoing.
