Police Arrest Two, Including Homicide Suspect, in Downtown Vice Raid

Summary:
On Tuesday, March 5, 2024, following multiple complaints from citizens and business owners, Pittsburgh Police Narcotics and Vice detectives served search warrants in connection with the operation of the Smoking Stars Smoke Shop located in Market Square.
Pittsburgh Police, with the assistance of Allegheny County Police and North Fayette Police, served a search warrant at 1000 Park Lane Dr., which is a hotel/primary residence of Shelly Omarie Duberry, one of the owners of Smoking Stars.
Duberry, 38, was arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana and Delivery of Marijuana.
During the service of a separate search warrant at Smoking Stars, located at 433 Market Street downtown, police arrested a male on a homicide warrant out of Volusia County in Florida.
Danitto Simpson, who was living and working at the Market St. location, was wanted on two warrants, one for a September 2023 homicide in Daytona Beach, Florida, and one for an aggravated assault on a pregnant female.
Simpson, 26, is a Jamaican national living in the United States on an expired visa.
Shelly Duberry faces additional charges from the search of the store where a stolen firearm and large quantities of marijuana and THC products were recovered.
Simpson and Duberry are being held in the Allegheny County Jail.
The investigation is ongoing.
