Date: October 3, 2024 Incident Type: Aggravated assault Location: Zone 2 Summary:
At approximately 9 p.m. on October 1, 2024, Downtown Public Safety Center officers were dispatched to the intersection of Liberty Avenue and Stanwix Street for a reported fight.
Arriving units located a male on the ground with multiple bruises and cuts to his face including a large welt above his eye and and a cut lip. The male was having a hard time breathing and speaking. Medics transported him to the hospital in stable condition.
A citizen provided video of the attack to police which shows a group of approximately eight individuals kicking and stomping the male as he lay on the ground. Officers quickly located two of the suspects a short distance away in Triangle Park. The relationship between the victim and the other individuals is not known at this time.
Robert Richard, 18, of North Versailles and William Yarbrough, 18, of Pittsburgh were arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault.
The investigation is ongoing.
