Just before 2 p.m., Zone 6 officers responded to a ShotSpotter notification for two rounds fired in the area of Werder Street and Herrod Street.
Arriving units located two shell casings and received a description of the vehicle that had fled toward Steuben Street.
Officers got behind the suspect vehicle and observed it as it struck one vehicle before continuing on and taking a sharp turn on Arnold Street. It then hit a pole, flipped over, and pinned the suspect underneath as it caught fire. Officers used fire extinguishers to put out the fire as they lifted the car off the male. Pittsburgh Fire also responded to the scene.
Medics transported the male to the hospital in stable condition. No one else was injured.
Police recovered a firearm and an undisclosed amount of cash from the vehicle.
Charges are anticipated.
