Pittsburgh Police Arrest Suspect Linked to Kidnapping, Carjacking

On Tuesday, March 19, 2024 Pittsburgh Police arrested a male following the theft of a vehicle left running in the 600 block of Penn Avenue downtown that morning. The suspect is accused of stealing the vehicle, driving to the north side of the city, and then over the West End bridge outbound before he was apprehended while stuck in traffic at Greentree Road at Kearns Avenue.

During the traffic stop, Pittsburgh Police recognized the male as a warrant suspect wanted by Allegheny County Police for multiple crimes committed on March 15, 2024 in Homestead. Michael Lipovsik III, 25 was taken into custody.

Pittsburgh Police also obtained a warrant for Lipovsik as the suspect in a March 14, 2024 armed carjacking and kidnapping of a female from a parking garage in downtown Pittsburgh.

Lipovsik faces multiple city charges including Kidnapping, Robbery, Robbery of a Motor Vehicle, Carrying a Firearm Without a License, Terroristic Threats, Criminal Mischief, Theft by Unlawful Taking, and Receiving Stolen Property.

He is being held in the Allegheny County Jail.
